Joan Hunt
I am a clinical social worker with a Master's degree in Social Work. I am currently in private practice specialising in individual and group psychotherapy. I have worked since 1979 in a variety of clinical, teaching, and management roles and settings in the mental health and addiction fields. I am also a Certified Teacher of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and received my certification to teach MBSR from the University of Massachusetts Medical School.
I am a long-time meditation and yoga practitioner which emerged in my life as a result of ill health. This led to a commitment to understand and to learn how to integrate mind and body practices into my daily life.
I have worked in clinical settings for 35 years treating clients with a variety of psychotherapies. In the last 10 years this also included mindfulness based interventions. I work with people who have experienced depression, anxiety, high levels of stress, and cancer. Currently, I am teaching resiliency skills to first responders.
